Plunge

The mesa road punishes midday hours. Our plunge courts exist for that interval — cool water moving through shaded channels, benches under canvas, and the kind of stillness that makes evening plans feel possible again.

Recovery courts

North Channel

Primary plunge · 62°F circulating water

A linear pool fed by a recirculating chiller buried beneath the adobe wall. Depth runs three to four feet — enough to submerge without swimming laps. Stone steps at both ends; copper handrails heated in winter months only.

Sage Bench Row

Shaded rest · Adjacent to North Channel

Four benches under a sage-green canvas awning face the channel. Towels stored in clay bins; chilled water dispensers refilled hourly between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. No speakers — just wind through the courtyard hedge.

Foot Rinse Stations

Crushed-stone path entries

Before entering the channel, guests rinse desert dust from feet at low copper basins set into the path. This keeps grit out of the water and extends filter life through busy weekends.

Private Alcove Gates

Plunge Alcove + Mesa Terrace guests

Two lodging rooms connect directly to a short private segment of the channel. Gates lock from inside; shared segment rejoins the main court at marked boundaries.

How we use the hours

Plunge access is included for all lodging guests. Day passes available for kitchen diners who hold a same-day receipt — ask at the bread station. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the channel; no diving; no glass containers in the court.

The courts open at 7:00 a.m. for early risers who want cool water before heat builds. Peak use runs noon to 3:00 p.m., when returning travelers from overnight outings off the mesa road collapse onto the sage benches with melon bowls from the kitchen. By 5:00 p.m. the channel quiets as guests prepare for dinner and evening programs.

We offer a small menu of recovery services by appointment: desert salt scrub in the east annex, guided breathing under the ramada, and contrast sessions alternating channel dips with warm terracotta wraps. Book through guest services.

Quiet voices in the plunge court — this is not a pool deck with music and cocktails. Save celebration for the Copper Bar after sunset. Rinse, submerge, rest, repeat.
